Best Christmas Decorations

“Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations.  The bad news is that I had to take him down after two days.  I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever.  Great stories.  But two things made me take it down.

 

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

 

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy).  By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that.  My yard couldn’t take it either.  I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.”

Lowest price of the Season! Barn Dog House - Dog Houses at Dog Houses

I've been fancying the idea of building a shelter for a neighborhood had that I take care of for over a year now. Since I've yet to take the time build a shelter and the cold night temps are upon us once again, I'm considering just freaking buying one. I've got a pretty solid idea in my head of what I want for this cat, and haven't yet found anything that fits the bill. This house, however, comes closer to anything I seen so far. The only thing that could make this house better is if it had a half wall inside that she could go behind to shield from the wind or rain. The great thing about the porch on this one is that I could put her food and water out with some protection from the elements. So...whatdoyathink? Should I take the plunge and get this one, or bite the bullet and just try to build one myself? Decisions, decisions...

Wake Yo' Ass Up (Optimally) - WakeMate

So, I struggle with waking up from 6-8am in the morning. Earlier than 6am is not much of a problem, and later than 8am is definitely not a problem. Thing is, I have this responsibility called a job which requires me to be there at a reasonable hour, so I must repeatedly force myself to rise and shine M-F in order to carry out my employment. I've been struggling with this for years, and always wishing there was a better way. I know that my natural sleep cycle ends around 5, 5:30am but I refuse to get up that early when I have another hour and a half of good God-given sleepy time that I can clock. Introducing the WakeMate. A handy little gadget you place on your person that pairs with an iPhone app to wake you up at the optimal time in your sleep cycle within a given window. I totally want one of these. Maybe I'll put it on my list for Santa and see if that bastard comes through this year.

Nothing For Ungood

Yesterday I learned that the husband of my new co-worker recently had his blog turned into a book by a German publishing house. Unfortunately, the book is not available in English, even though it's the language the blog is written in. So, now I'm on a mission to get the book published in English and made available to the many who are interested, myself included (self-publishing maybe?). Marriage Discrimination Has a Price

I think this is a beautiful example of how taking away the rights of others can cause a massive, unholy backfire. I love Texas, but I am surely not proud of this amendment to our state constitution that is not only blatantly discriminatory, but so poorly written in a attempt to lock down marriage and restrict it to heterosexual couples that it jeopardizes that very unions that it seeks to selectively recognize. <Cue Alanis Morriset> Isn't it ironic? Juice Feasting: My Next Kick

I was searching for Gluten Free restaruants in Austin, TX in my ever evolving - and invariably hiccuping - mission to eventually become vegan/raw/gluten free. I get on the band wagon regularly, but find that the time I'm staying on it decreases with every attempt. I need simple solutions that aren't boring or make me feel as if I can no longer *enjoy* the majority of my food again. No, bigger than that...I need to be able to eat without having to take a magnifying glass to everything I eat, save for a handful of pre-screened items that quickly loose their luster. I stumbled on to a couple of interesting places, one of which I've heard about several times before but have never patronized; The Daily Juice. While scanning their site, I saw a video on the lower left that had information regarding Juice Feasting. Lord knows I've heard about juice fasting, but not Juice FEASTING. This video wasn't magic, but it lead me to the author's website (listed below) which has some how managed to rekindle my motivation to really take my eating habits up a notch (or three). I think a juice of kale, celery, apples and carrots is on the menu for later this week! ;-) I'm going to invest in the juicing recipes listed on the referenced web site and will be sure to share my experiences along the way. I think this is going to be an awesome adventure! Should I set a target start date of next week? I believe I shall... Tootles! Selena

Bolsa Bonita Great Fortune purse

Totally found my handbag soul-mate in Liz Potter, owner of Bolsa Bonita. I discovered her today while perusing the vendors at Shop787. There wasn't one of her purses that I wouldn't purchase, save maybe for the funky bag adorned with Tom Selleck's signature stache face. Hell, I take it back. The more I think about it...that's one awesome bag. One must respect and give love to the stache of all staches! Unfortunately, I didn't buy any Bolsa Bonita wares, *only* because I couldn't decide (my eyes were wide as saucers). I love how her bags are not only visually stimulating but they engage the tactile senses as well.
